"Together with the government of Ontario, we as Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) are changing the health care system in this province.

There are 14 LHINs across the province. While we don’t directly provide health care services, we were given the mandate for planning, integrating and funding health care services. We oversee nearly two-thirds of the $37.9 billion health care budget in Ontario.

Because we are right in the communities, we are better able to engage local people and providers about their needs and priorities. As our role continues to evolve over the next few years, the immediate benefits will be unprecedented opportunities for the people of Ontario to provide input into health care planning in their own communities. In the years to come, we expect to see better access to patient care."
